Let’s Get Out The Vote

Deep-listening-obama

I am going to be bold here and just say it: I want to see our President re-elected for a second term. I try to leave the political out of my art and off my blog, but I feel strongly that there is an awful lot at stake with this election. I believe we need to move forward, not backward. And I believe President Obama is the one to lead us. In this spirit, I would like to urge everyone to vote. It is an honor and a privilege; one that is denied to many. Please be sure you are registered correctly. You can look here and here for more information to do this online. If you need an absentee ballot you can go here. Make sure everyone you know is registered to vote. Consider volunteering. Consider making a donation. Participate.

Inauguration

I have done two pages featuring our President of these United States – one right after the inauguration in 2008 and one this week. The quotes inspire my civic mindedness. Be inspired too. To make a difference. To participate in our democracy. Get out the vote!

"The occasion is piled high with difficulties as our case is new, so we must think anew. We must disenthrall ourselves. And then we shall save our country." Abraham Lincoln

"We go now to walk together children pledging that we won't get weary in the difficult days ahead. We know you will not leave us alone with your hands of power and your heart of love. Let all those who do justice and love mercy say amen." Dr. Joseph Lowery, Inauguration benediction.

  1. I am so happy to see an artist doing this. You are so right, much is hanging in the balance with this election. I, too, want to see President Obama re-elected. And I would love to see more artists, mamas, daddys, grandmothers/fatheres, writers, poets ….. everyone lose the fear of speaking out around politics. Politics is personal. It affects everyone in this country and beyond. Thank you for this.

  2. anyone who says:
“…I’m just not comfortable with people getting all political on their Blogs and FaceBook feeds…” need to take a deep breath and remember what’s at stake. This is not a dress rehearsal.

    Congrats on STANDING UP Frannie!

  4. LOve President Obama…was disappointed last night but after more thinking I believe he took the high road. If he would have argued every lie that Romney spoke they would still be on stage. I just hope people remember to check the facts.

    hope you’re well!
