Mini-Masterpiece Triptych

Triptych2

I'm getting ready for the Longmont Studio Tour, which will be the 3rd week of September. Stephanie (she's got the coolest blog banner going) has kindly offered to host myself and Lisa at her very cool studio/home in Longmont. As a fundraiser for the Longmont Arts Council the participating Studio Tour artists make "mini-masterpieces" – the bidding starts at $15 – so for just a little dough you could get some pretty cool art to tuck into a tiny space. They are just 4" X 6" – Lisa calls them ATC's and that's not far from the truth. I enjoyed riffing on my Taos piece and playing with the faux TTV format that Lynne kindly turned me onto. I'm a newbie photoshop person and find it extraordinarily frustrating, but Lynne pointed me to this tutorial and voila – I could actually do it! I'll turn these beauties in this week and then a bigger, framed collaged journal page for the opening show reception. I'll keep sharing work as it progresses over the next few weeks.

I am now back to my regular blog programming – sorry the travelogue is over. No trips planned. School's starting. Fall's coming. Time to nestle in and turn my attention back to my wandering imagination and the worktable.

  1. Fran, Thank you for the tip on a possible novice-friendly photoshop tutorial, may we both have visible success. Also…Leonard Cohen’s I’M YOUR MAN DVD (or his own CD), the tribute concert and the artists who appeared gave even greater dimension to his words than I would have thought possible. Nice to find another fan.

  2. I love these pieces!

Very beautiful and fresh. A departure from your usual delicious style. You just did “it” again.

I hear the clock ticking…the show’s with around the corner…
