I’ll be heading out to the City by the Bay soon and wondered if any of you out in blog land had any suggestions for me while I’m in San Francisco. You know, the cool, off the beaten path places that shouldn’t be missed? Like the one’s for my area that I’ve listed in my sidebar? Pass any suggestions along and I’ll do my best to check them out.

I’m trying out a new travel journal format by taking the little Moleskine journal (above), and transforming it into my own personal travel journal. It’s got maps and stickers and pockets and all things cool to play with. I’ll post the results upon my return.

  1. Yeah, I’d like to see what you do with this! I got one for Seattle, and one for SF. SF is full of many great places…If you have Art & Life issue 8, I had an article in there about places to go in SF. Not sure if they’re what you’re looking for, but it could help… I know that Cody Books is no longer on Stockton, but I think they still have their Berkeley store.

  2. Do you know of the Fort Mason area? I love this place, it’s not too well known, up and down along a beautiful path from the crazy Cannery and Fisherman Wharf ares.

There is a branch of the Museum of Modern Art and Folk Art Museum as well as the ‘Greens’ (I think??) a great little healthy eating restaurant in the old military buildings.

Have fun! in one of my most favorite places in the world!

  3. ditto on Fort Mason. Make time for a wonderful lunch at Green’s (my favorite vegetarian restaurant in the Bay Area). Not on the off the beaten track list but a definite make time for if you can is the new De Young and/or SFMuseum of Modern Art (and the Yerba Buena across the street)-both are fantastic people watching spots and I love the SFMA book store. I could go on. Claire (Taos)
